Vacancy SIOS Community Manager (Student Assistant)

Description

To contribute to the dissemination of Open Science practices and awareness among bachelor and master students, the Student Initiative for Open Science (SIOS), part of the Open Science Community Amsterdam (OSCA) is looking for a student assistant for half a day a week (0.1 fte). This is a paid position for 2026.

Join SIOS to organise events on Open Science topics that are relevant to students across disciplines! For this position, your responsibilities are structuring the initiative, handling everyday business, and working with the volunteers to grow SIOS and promote Open Science among students in Amsterdam. Examples of past activities include Open Science film nights, talks on topics such as reproducibility and replicability, feminism in Open Science and how to use GitHub, but also larger events such as a symposium on science communication and a workshop on pre-registration. Remote working is possible, except during events and in-person meetings.

Tasks

  • Communication with OSCA and other OS organisations/initiatives
  • Organise and lead SIOS meetings
  • Regular organisation of student events, addressing an interdisciplinary audience across Amsterdam institutions
  • Budget management
  • Manage online presence (website, newsletter contributions, social media)
  • Overseeing SIOS volunteers
    • Manage internal structure 
    • Member recruitment and training

Job requirements

  • You are a student with a passion for Open Science
  • Availability to attend (bi)weekly SIOS meetings 
  • Good at organising and keeping an overview over ongoing projects
  • You communicate easily with various partners
  • Experience with organising and promoting, especially within student organisations, is an advantage
  • Applicants who have attended SIOS meetings are preferred
  • You can start on February 1st 2026
